remember about others
REITERATION ONE
Freedom of expression often appears to be confined and restricted within the art world and somehow more so within the gallery space. This body of work pushes the boundaries of freedom and expression within its surroundings. Reiteration Oneshifts the rational to the irrational allowing for interaction towards disruption of the common inside the white cube. A memory can be stronger than an action, re evoking multiple senses in anyone who dares to disturb the balance of the assemblage. By aiming at bringing a joyful memory back to life it leaves room for interpretation by means of pattern and repetition. The installation plays upon the balance of space and time and what we are allowed and not allowed to do in order to define who we become.
La Vita può diventare tutto ciò che vuoi, (To the Moon) - basta solo volerlo. (And Beyond)
From the start of a journey, our path is defined by whom we interact with. This work provokes and disputes the domains of high and low art by shifting the common grounds of experiential and material associations. Through the embodiment of space between the red assemblage La vita può diventare tutto ciò che vuoi, (To the Moon) and the blue assemblage basta solo volerlo. (And Beyond) plus the use of playful trampoline icons, this work aims at evoking and representing adult, child and individual personal experience rather than a preconceived gallery insight.
With a strong community entity the work generates its own scenario to be experience in a place where the norm would be to over-analyze surroundings. This assemblage calls upon memorabilia and the beginning or Reiterations where each individual sees what they aim to see within their mind and experience.
HOLD ON:
A Temporary disruption
Hold On is a temporary installation that aims to deploy joyful disruption in transitory spaces in an effort to emphasize our spatial, social, and affective experience in site. Through audio, colour, light, Hold On uses playfulness and levity as the means to counteract set connotations of a given space. Further, the work situates itself at the intersection of past and future mapped onto everyday life - negotiating the transitional moment of time in which we suddenly 'are here' and no longer 'there'.
The work builds upon an ongoing exploration of micro-utopias, self-awareness, and affective embodiment, in everyday vernacular experiences.
SYNESTHESIA:
A Work in Collaboration
Throughout the creative process and daily life of an artist, human connections seem lost. This body of work challenges ways of daily encounters as it focuses on bringing social life into reality rather than from behind screens. The poetic representation of the ephemeral experience with others becomes embossed and remains as a mark of time. The work is created through the deconstruction of the whole experience and then represented through the synesthetic action of colour, patterned shapes and play and then redefined by the enclosed framing of each singular experience which float in and out of time.
FIRST KISS
Analyzing human perception and reconsidering the notion of personal interpretation, First Kiss takes on the conception of time and space. There seem to be a tendency that viewers in a public space become influenced by communal opinion. Therefore, the challenge of this body of work is to seek the viewer’s point of view and perception because the playfulness of the piece lies within its deconstruction. Close up, the individual forms are unique and juxtaposed between handmade and manipulated reproductions of the mirrored forms, which from far away give the illusion of pure black.
Observed from afar and from one’s own space, the bigger picture emerges and the viewer may choose their own reading and interpretation without being affected by the artist’s work or by surrounding viewers.
OUROBOROS
Project
The Ouroboros project came to life in reflection of the “selfie” characteristics of the 21st century social media society. In this mix media work the abstract use of half tone colour separation and print media techniques emphasizes the naivety of a selfie in this large scale project. Ouroboros illustrates a silkscreen portrait developing a neverending circle where the viewer reads the images from afar and up close, leading to an unconscious self contemplation in relation to our society.
HSL
A conversation Between Painting and Printmaking
This collection of work reflects upon the development of the artist and the process from beginning to end. Creating a conversation between painting and printmaking the use of repetition, form, and gesture, allows for a fluidity across the several groups of work despite their different mediums. With the ability of being shown as individual groups of four, shown collectively one can notice the familiarities surrounding them.
The initial paintings, the prints, the transparencies, the screens and the squeegees bring the viewer into a scene of curiosity and playfulness among the process of the artist.
PROJECT C
for more information about the project, and how to get involved, please contact me at: pjb[at]cmyktorgb.com
Project C was brought to life with the purpose of bringing street art into a book form and not from an image or replication. Creating a concrete surface for artists to generate a work, the same way they would on the streets. In this the artist is trying to facilitate an academic form of documentation that enables the reader to experience the art in its natural environment rather than through a reproduction.

CUORE
INSIDE-OUTSIDE
with Graeme Wilson
An image made of the unconscious mind. Thirty four painted shapes layered into one photographic image, the positive space of these paintings transforms into something different, of this unconscious image. That is only clear in the last moments of the work.
This is the second collaboration between Patrick James Bravo and Graeme Wilson. Bringing two different styles together to create images from the art we are inspired by.

Experiencing what surrounds us, Patrick James Bravo and Björn Krogvig got together to create a painting to celebrate their time together in Vancouver.
The two had taken this challenge to create something to share with others the same way they shared their adventures with each other, the painting was hung in Vancouvers finest gallery - 5 meters up a tree on a secret location in Stanley Park.

FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH
REBORN SERIES
19012014
21012014
Changing what surrounds us in a colourful and playful way has been part of my practice since before I even knew I had a "practice". What I aim to do in my daily routines is to brighten someones day with a simple action, something that can change your mood at a glimpse.
We have a tendency to walking with our head down, and forget to pay attention to what is around us. This installation makes one pause for a second and admire what surrounds us, and putting a smile on someones face.
WITHIN:
FREEDOM
LIBERTY
Freedom:
The chaos of celebration clouded by the dark haze of the past that fades to the edges. Embodied arms freeing our center up and outward.
Liberty:
Like "freedom"Liberty, the calm of freedom, the establishment after the chaos. The coloured lines embracing the ceremony of community and its grounding center.
DOT DOT
The blank state of mind like the writer in front of the piece of paper is surreal. Everything we claim to look for is already here.
INTENSITY
FOR YOU
Realistic drawing was part of my childhood, I was told that if we wanted to break the rules we had to learn them first. Intensity has alway been the one drawing I've loved most, and now after nearly ten years I finally brought her back to life with my passion for colour and form. For You is my rule breaker in this cmyktorgb silkscreen, where colour and form give life to intensity.
UNTITLED 34
This is a series of 34 paintings from free hand gesture brush strokes leading the placement of the shape. Exploring the effects of layering and colour as a meditative source of expression of peace and mind.
NEW BEGINNINGS
New Beginnings is the silkscreen that brought For You to life. It is the discovery of a new world combining power, strength, life and energy with my playful shapes to raise a message in a universe of imagination and endless possibilities for creation.
FORMA
Clash of colour against soft and hard edges, forma challenges the way we see what surrounds us and how we interpret it.
GALAXY
Within the depths of this centre we stand invisible to the masses of connections beyond our horizons.
MICRO COLOUR SOUND
with Graeme Wilson
04112013
VIDEO COMING SOON
Have you ever wondered what sound a leaf makes when touching you while falling? Have you ever wondered what happens to colours when light is bent by rain? We aim to bring you to a frozen moment in a city were sounds and colours are muffled by the rain and taken away from our perception and enjoyment of our daily lives.
Using sensors embedded in the leaves, we froze a moment in time to allow you to touch and experience these micro colour sounds which we never notice in everyday life.
MISS E
By using the elements to create an alternative space, Miss E is part of the REBORN series in which I aim to get who ever comes across this installation to pause their daily lives and routines. I considered this particular location for its traffic and its surroundings where people pass by everyday without paying attention to the environment that surrounds them. Curiosity is one of our most beautiful characters and with Miss E I aim to enhance curiosity in adults as well as kids, to be amazed by the simple things again.
LOVE
signature
How to represent oneself? In society negative connotations with symbols ingrain themselves into our minds with out us even realizing it. Being an artist, we are asked if it is possible to survive as just that, in Lovechallenges societies qualms over the negative connotation of L being loser and transforms L to stand for love. To love oneself for what they are good at, and find a way to make measures meet to sustain happiness in our daily lives.
WHAT CAN YOU SEE
giorno e notte
All that we see on a surface is already there, paused, waiting to be brought out.
The playfulness of these brushstrokes and what our imagination can lead us to see inside these lines transforms ideas of light and shadow into a sea of colour twisting the depth of a story. We see lines in the dark that we may never see during the day, where hidden shadows glow and leave room from beauty within the depths of dark pathways where I find my daily inspiration, leading me to create something new.
MONEY DOES NOT GROW ON TREES
19042013
27042013
Throughout my first year attending art school at a post secondary institution as an International student I had begun to notice that the sharing of cultures was not as prominently a high priority by the school and there felt like there was a lack in collaborative work unless it happened on our own time. I began to reflect on my experience, and uncomfortably found that my presence was more about business for the school that cultural practices. In this response I sneaked into the institution the night before their final year gallery show and left my opinion. In Money Does Not Grow On Trees I expressed my experience through black and white international currencies bundled with leaves in burlap as if one just robbed a bank.
My experience has been far too expensive, causing me to work on horrible jobs to pay for my education. It does not feel like the sharing of cultures is a part of it, but that it is just about the money.

"A WAY OF LIFE:
Life can not be based on black and white
ADD SOME PAINT" - LACONIC
Positive and negative, light and dark, there is always colour coming from the heart. As a creator, the choice of what to put into the work and where inspiration comes from is from my heart, and channelled by my hands through expression of gestures. I consider energy and emotions and how they can contrast one another as in this double sided piece reflecting on itself an explosion of colour from both sides.
REBORN
18022013
03032013
In todays society the constraints put on adults to behave in a routine manner and reform to a way of living often reduces their creativity. The childlike sense of being free has vanished and the world has been formed into how we should see it, which fits into the norm. In my path in life I have been inspired by many things, trying to find my self as an artist until my point of realization that we all should be what we want to be and not what others like us to be. REBORN, has been formed from this realization. The rebirth of an artist, tapping into my childlike self, revisiting the mindset I had and the way I expressed my self and my creativity when I was free as a child to question the world from a different prospective and representing it as I pleased.
I want to share my colourful and playful ways in this world, hoping that I allow you to question yourself as to what you want to be? What do you want do?
